The Daxi Old Street is a street in Daxi District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan.
Old street lined with historic buildings, specialty shops, cafes & stalls serving traditional foods.
The Daxi Old Street trip is mainly centered around Heping Old Street. The beautiful scenery along the shore of the Dahan Creek, the garden-style cafes, the Wude Temple, the Li Tengfang’s Ancient Mansion, baroque style old buildings, and snack bars that are hidden behind the old streets and in the village render the old street trip an enriching experience.
Daxi was one of the earliest developed areas in Taoyuan Small yachts plying between the Dahan Creek and the Danshui River helped trade with the Chinese mainland thrive. The thriving trade gave rise to many trading stores and businessmen. The baroque architectural style was popular during the Japanese colonial rule of Japan’s Taisho era. The picture patterns including Greek mountains, Roman columns, Chinese style fish, and bats seen at the stores on Heping and Zhongshan Old Streets are a mixture of baroque, Taiwanese, Greek, and Roman styles. This is one of the characteristics of Daxi.
Heping Old Street was developed relatively late so the residential buildings in that area are still in very good condition. There are many speciality stores here, alongside snack bars and stores dealing in
wooden products.
